MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to other apps. The Litmaps MCP connects assistants like Claude and ChatGPT to your Litmaps account.

Once connected, you can ask your assistant to:

Use Litmaps to find the most connected articles in a line of enquiry

Read your Litmaps and Tags to aid your deep research

Add articles to a Litmap from your AI assistant conversation

Your assistant only sees what your Litmaps account can see, and you can disconnect it at any time.

You'll need the Litmaps MCP server address: <a href="https://mcp.litmaps.com/mcp" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://mcp.litmaps.com/mcp</a>

While in beta you'll need to add the Litmaps MCP manually. Supported connectors coming soon.

Open <a href="https://claude.ai/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Claude</a> and go to "Settings"

Name it "Litmaps" and paste the Litmaps MCP server address

1. You'll be taken to Litmaps – log in if prompted

Click "Allow" to let Claude access your Litmaps account

1. Open <a href="https://claude.ai/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Claude</a> and go to "Settings"
2. Click "Connectors"
3. Click "Add custom connector"
4. Name it "Litmaps" and paste the Litmaps MCP server address
5. Click "Add", then "Connect"
 1. You'll be taken to Litmaps – log in if prompted
6. Click "Allow" to let Claude access your Litmaps account

Litmaps now appears in your Claude connectors. Start a new chat and ask Claude about your research.

Open <a href="https://chatgpt.com/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">ChatGPT</a> and go to "Settings"

Click "Create" and paste the Litmaps MCP server address

Click "Create", then follow the prompts to log in to Litmaps

Click "Allow" to let ChatGPT access your Litmaps account

1. Open <a href="https://chatgpt.com/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">ChatGPT</a> and go to "Settings"
2. Click "Apps &amp; Connectors"
3. Click "Create" and paste the Litmaps MCP server address
4. Click "Create", then follow the prompts to log in to Litmaps
5. Click "Allow" to let ChatGPT access your Litmaps account

Custom connectors may depend on your ChatGPT plan, and some plans require turning on "Developer mode" under "Advanced settings" first.

Any assistant that supports remote MCP servers can connect to Litmaps:

Find the assistant's setting for adding an MCP server or connector

Log in to Litmaps when prompted and click "Allow"

Remove the Litmaps connector from your assistant's connector settings.

Can my assistant change my Litmaps?

Yes, it can create Litmaps', Tags, and add and remove articles from them.

Does my assistant see my whole team's work?

Your assistant sees the same Workspaces, Litmaps and Tags you can see in the Litmaps App.

Is my data used to train AI models?

This depends on your subscription or terms of use with your AI assistant. Data we provide to the assistant will be used according to those terms.

My assistant says it can't connect. What should I do?

Remove the connector and add it again to log in afresh
