When searching for relevant literature on a topic, reviewing the references of an article you know is a great place to start. These are earlier pieces of research the article relies on, and are thus usually highly relevant to your topic.
In Litmaps, it's easy to see all the references for any given article, as well as to find relevant papers based on the article you know. In fact, when you create a Litmap for an article, you're seeing all the most relevant sources to your article based on its citations and references. It's like looking at the article's references, but even better!
How to make a Litmap for an article's references
To see the literature map of an article's references in Litmaps:
Search for or select your article in Litmaps
Click "References" under the article's title
The resulting Litmap shows your article and all the references it has. You can follow the same process to this for the article's citations too (just click "Citations" under the article title).
