πŸ’‘ Did you know? You can also edit existing articles in Litmaps. Here's how.

What are article versions?

A single research paper or scientific article often has multiple versions. These correspond to the same paper at different points in time.

Articles are often released in several versions at these times:

  • pre-print before release

  • formal publication

  • ongoing revisions

In Litmaps, the default article you see is the most recent. However, you can access the different versions by viewing the paper's details.

How to see different article versions in Litmaps?

To see other versions of the same paper:

  1. Click on the paper's title to see its details

  2. Click the paper icon at the top right

Here, you'll see any other article versions, as well as an option to create a new custom version.

How to create a custom article

  1. Click on the "Add" button on a Litmap

  2. Choose the "Custom" tab

  3. Click "New Custom Article"

  4. Fill out the article's fields, then click Create Custom Article

Limits of Custom Articles

Custom articles behave in almost exactly the same way as normal articles within Litmaps. The only difference is that Custom Articles won't contribute to how Litmaps calculates paper recommendations.
