πŸ”” Are you using Zotero?

Automatically keep your Zotero and Litmaps collections synced with Zotero Sync.

It's easy to bring in papers from other applications and reference managers into Litmaps.

In this guide, we'll show you how to import papers into Litmaps, so you can start exploring their connections and seeing your existing research from new angles.

Do you have articles stored elsewhere, but don't know how to access them?

See this guide on how to export papers from your reference manager (Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote, PaperPile etc.)

Importing Articles into a Litmap

Here's how to create a new Litmap with articles you already have stored:

  1. Go to the Litmaps app

  2. Click Import

  3. Drop in a BibTeX, RIS or Pubmed of articles you have.

    1. Click here to see how to export papers from external sources.

    2. You can also import by IDs using "Manual bulk import"

  4. Click Explored Related Articles

You can use your Litmap to review your existing research, search for related literature, or set up alerts for new articles on your topic using Monitor.

Import Your Articles into a Tag

In addition to creating a new Litmap with imported articles, you can also bring in your articles and save them in Litmaps using Tags.

Tags help you organize all your literature into different categories, and bring your Litmaps to life.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Litmaps app

  2. Click the new Tag icon, under Tags

  3. Name your new Tag, and click Done

  4. Click at the top right of your Tag.

  5. Click Import on the sidebar

  6. Drop in a BibTeX, RIS or Pubmed of articles you have.

  7. Click Done

Now, you've saved all your imported papers to a new Tag.

You can now expand your research and find more articles related to these by clicking "Explore Related Articles" at the top of the Tag.
